Jodi L. Hartman

Jodi L. Hartman is majority managing member and founding partner with Hartman & Citrin LLC.  Jodi practices general intellectual property law.  Jodi has prepared and prosecuted patent applications in a variety of fields such as electrical devices, mechanical devices, software, and telecommunications.   Jodi also has experience preparing right to market opinions and infringement opinions, as well as in preparing and prosecuting trademark applications.  

Jodi received her law degree from the University of Georgia School of Law, cum laude, and her engineering degree from Clemson University, magna cum laude.

Jodi is licensed to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office and in the State of Georgia. 

 

 

 

Yaakov Y. Citrin

Yaakov Citrin is a partner with Hartman & Citrin LLC.  Yaakov has prepared and prosecuted hundreds of patent applications in a variety of arts including defense technologies, electrical devices, mechanical devices, medical devices, packaging (including pharmaceutical and compliance packaging), software and user interface technologies, cloud computing technologies, artificial intelligence and neural networks technologies, block chain technologies, aviation and avionics technologies, and telecommunications technologies.  Yaakov also represents clients in various post-allowance proceedings including patent reexamination and reissue proceedings, drafts patent opinions (including right-to-market/freedom-to-operate opinions and non-infringement/invalidity opinions), and has worked on patent litigation cases.

Yaakov prepares and prosecutes trademark applications and represents clients in various trademark disputes including assertion of trademark registrations, defense against claims of trademark infringement, trademark opposition proceedings, trademark litigation cases, and settlement discussions.  

Yaakov also prepares license agreements, software development agreements, non-disclosure agreements, non-use agreements, and other agreements. Yaakov also advises clients in building intellectual property portfolios, and leveraging and monetizing those portfolios. 

Yaakov is a published author (Are the Secrecy Order Compensation Provisions of the Patent Act Constitutional Under the Fifth Amendment?, 1 Akron Intell. Prop. Journal 275 (2007)), a past-editor for the University of Akron School of Law Intellectual Property Journal, and has presented CLE programs on patent appeal strategy and procedure, various patent prosecution issues (including 101 issues under Alice and its progeny), and on various other aspects of intellectual property law in the United States and abroad.  Yaakov currently serves on the Board of the Georgia IP Alliance and has served on the Intellectual Property Owners Association (IPO) Patent Office Practice (U.S.) Committee and as a voting member of the ABA Patent Office Affairs Committee.   

Yaakov received his law degree and a certificate in intellectual property from the University of Akron School of Law and his engineering degree and a minor in English-World Literature from North Carolina State University.

Yaakov is licensed to practice before the United States Patent & Trademark Office, the United States Supreme Court, and in the State of Georgia.
